Backline policies

Terms of Service

Effective September 2, 2026. These terms govern the use of Backline by a workspace and its authorized users.

The Backline service

Backline is a software service operated by Derek Stayoch in Florida, United States. It helps small businesses organize customer work, team activity, messages, documents, approvals, invoices, and subscription administration. By creating an account, starting a trial, or using Backline, you agree to these terms.

Accounts and access

You must provide accurate account information, keep credentials confidential, and promptly notify us of suspected unauthorized access. The workspace owner is responsible for invited users, assigned roles, and all activity performed through the workspace.

You may use Backline only in compliance with applicable law. Do not attempt to bypass access controls, interfere with the service, use it to send unlawful or deceptive communications, or upload content you do not have the right to use.

Trials, billing, cancellation, and refunds

New paid plans begin with the trial period shown at checkout. Subscription payments and billing details are processed by Stripe. The workspace owner is responsible for selecting a plan, maintaining a valid payment method, and managing cancellation or plan changes through the Backline billing portal.

You may cancel at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid billing period, and the workspace remains available through that period unless access is suspended for a separate reason. Backline does not provide prorated refunds or refunds for unused time, except where required by law or when we confirm a billing error. Report a billing error to support@backlineoffice.com promptly.

Backline may restrict editing access when a subscription is inactive, unpaid, canceled, or otherwise no longer eligible for full access. Where available, records remain viewable and exportable so a workspace can retrieve its information.

Your content and customer data

You retain responsibility for the information entered into your workspace. You confirm that you have the necessary rights, notices, and permissions to collect, store, and communicate about customer and team information through Backline.

Backline may process that information solely to provide, secure, support, and improve the service. You are responsible for the content of messages, estimates, invoices, approvals, customer portal pages, and files your workspace sends or shares.

Cancellation does not by itself delete workspace data. A workspace owner may request deletion from the owner account email, and Backline will handle verified requests as described in the Privacy Policy.

Availability and changes

Backline is provided on an "as available" basis. We work to keep it available and secure, but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may update, improve, or discontinue features when reasonably necessary to operate the service.

Ownership and feedback

Backline and its software, branding, and service materials are owned by Backline or its licensors. You may submit feedback, and we may use it without restriction or compensation to improve the service.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Backline is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenues, data, or business opportunities arising from use of the service. Backline's total liability for a claim arising from the service is limited to the greater of the amount paid to Backline for the affected workspace during the 12 months before the claim or $100.

Governing law and venue

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising from these terms or the service must be brought in the state or federal courts located in Florida, and you consent to that jurisdiction and venue.

Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms as Backline changes. For a material change, we will post the revised terms here and update the effective date. Continued use after the revised terms take effect means you accept them.
